How it works · Upload

Upload your bill. Our robot does the reading.

A photo or PDF of a recent bill is all it takes. Here's what the robot reads, how you check it, and what happens to the bill afterwards.

What to upload

  • A recent electricity or gas bill, from any retailer.
  • A PDF or a photo. A clear photo of a paper bill works; a PDF from your retailer works best.
  • All the pages, if you can. Rates and usage are often on the second page.

What the robot reads

  • Your retailer, your plan's rates and your daily supply charge.
  • Your usage over the billing period, split by time of day when your plan has peak, shoulder and off-peak rates.
  • Your solar exports and feed-in credit, if you have solar.
  • Your state, your distributor and your meter number (the NMI), which tell the Wizard which plans you can actually get.

You check it before anything is priced

The robot shows you what it read. If something's wrong or missing, you can fix it, or skip the upload and enter the details yourself. Nothing is priced until the figures are right.

What happens to the bill

The bill is read in Australia. We keep the figures from it so the Wizard can watch the market for you, not the bill document itself. We don't sell your information, we don't use your bills to train our own algorithms, and you can delete any bill at any time. More on your data.

BillWizard opens at the end of November.
