Features · What's next
What's next: the BillWizard API.
The engine behind BillWizard, opened to businesses: bill reading, plan pricing, wholesale forecasts and solar estimates, to build into your own products.
The plan
BillWizard opens to households at the end of November. Next, we'll open the same engine to businesses through an API, so the work the Wizard does for a household can run inside your own product or service.
What it's planned to do
- Read a bill and return its figures: retailer, rates, supply charge, usage by time of day, solar exports and meter details.
- Price the market: every published plan for an address, priced on its own terms against given usage.
- Forecast wholesale prices, with the likely range around each forecast.
- Estimate solar and batteries: the size a home suits, indicative prices and payback.
- Compare a bill with the wholesale market: what the energy on a bill cost wholesale.
Who it's for
- Energy brokers and advisers who compare plans for clients.
- Solar and battery installers who want payback worked from a customer's real bill.
- Property and strata managers who look after many homes' bills.
- Anyone building a product that needs Australian energy plans priced properly.
What won't change
The API is sold to businesses on its own terms. It never touches a household's Reading: no business, retailer or otherwise, can pay to rank a plan, and household bills are never shared through it. Bills read through the API are read in Australia, like everyone else's.
